Level I Training sessions - registration update
Source: Douglas Finnson - TCRC Vice President
Published: March 1st 2010

To All Divisions;

The significant level of interest in the Level I training sessions has resulted in more applications that there are positions available. Effective today, applications are no longer accepted for any of the course locations except Vancouver, where we will continue to accept applications from the Divisions within BC until the maximum number of registrants is achieved.

We will now complete the selection process and notify all successful applicants.

Your assistance and support of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference National Training Program is appreciated.

Sincerely and in Solidarity,

Douglas Finnson
Vice President – TCRC

The 2010 TCRC National Training Program schedule for Level I Division Officer Training sessions throughout Canada has recently been finalized. Attached is Training Bulletin No. 1-10, which outlines the schedule and locations for the delivery of the Level I Division Officer training for 2010, as well as an explanation of how the participant selection process works and how the payment to the participants is managed.

Divisions can choose to register their officers for this training, or individuals may also register themselves. When we have sufficient numbers of applicants we will distribute the notice that registration is completed. Participants will be selected in the following order of preference:

  1. Newly elected, previous untrained or inexperienced Local Chairs and Legislative Reps
  2. Vice Local Chairs and Alternate Legislative Reps
  3. Other Division officers based on experience

We are utilizing three of our own trainers this year, Brothers Brennen Barr (945), Ray Donegan (847), and Ted Moore (728), as well as Teamsters Canada Director of Education, Sister Brigitte Sottile, who will host the Montreal session. The program has been updated and improved based on our experience from the last two years, the trainers are motivated and prepared, and we expect the 2010 training season to be the best ever!

Registration is being accepted through the Ottawa office in care of Elaine. Her email address is tcrcnlb@teamstersrail.ca, and when contacting her please understand that she will be unable to immediately confirm whether or not a particular person is accepted or not. That is something that will take place after we have sufficient applicants and we cut off registration.

Your assistance and support of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference National Training Program is appreciated.

Sincerely and in Solidarity,

Douglas Finnson
Vice President – TCRC
