Standing Strong...
Images from TCRC picket lines. The solidarity you have show is inspiring.

The Company clearly wants the Government to intervene
The reports from the picket lines are encouraging; all reports indicate the rallies are a huge success. The Bargaining Committee is very proud of the solidarity and the strong support demonstrated by the membership right across the country.

Commuter trains will run tomorrow
“We told CP management that nothing could justify their decision to keep us from operating the commuter trains,” explained Doug Finnson, vice-president of the Teamster Canada Rail Conference, which represents the rail company’s 4,800 workers. “They wanted to fabricate a crisis, but it didn’t work.”

At this time the Minister will not be interfering
Brother Finnson has reported that the Minister is keenly interested in the progress of our bargaining but at this time she will not be interfering with the process. The rest of our bargaining committee are now arranging to convene in Ottawa to continue bargaining with the Company.

Minister of Labour intervening?
Lisa Raitt, Minister of Labour, has summoned Vice President Doug Finnson to Ottawa for a meeting tomorrow. We are unsure what this means and any attempt to interpret the Ministers actions would be premature. Accordingly, we must reiterate, until notified, please continue organizing your strike committees and preparation.
